Review of the GelaSkins skin for the iPhone 3G/3GS

Of course, in the midst of working on my iPhone 3GS v. iPhone 3G v. first-generation iPhone review, I get side-tracked by a new iPhone accessory (and Sygic’s Mobile Maps navigation app as well), though I have a perfectly good excuse for it. See, I just got this shiny new iPhone 3GS, and after becoming quite used to using a DecalGirl skin on my old iPhone 3G paired with a Proporta Maya pouch, I wanted to put a skin on my new iPhone ASAP though I wanted to try a different one this time. I came across GelaSkins and got my hot little hands on a couple of skins and screen protectors to try out (thanks, Solveig!). I’m happy to report that the Gelaskins skin performs perfectly as a svelte protector of my iPhone, though there is one concern you should be aware of – read my review for all of the glorious details.

Review of the Proporta Maya case for the iPhone

As I mentioned in my recent review of the DecalGirl iPhone 3G skin, I received a Maya pouch case from the great folks at Proporta to review. This is a straightforward slip case that comes in a variety of colors. Reasonably priced at $20, it does a fine job of protecting your iPhone when it’s in a pocket or bag, but it may not be perfect for all users – read my review to find out why.

If you’re like me and can’t bear the thought of your iPhone completely naked, but still need some level of protection from scratches, a skin is an ideal accessory. I needed a skin to use while testing a slip case for my iPhone and decided I wanted something with a design versus a clear skin and I selected a skin from DecalGirl.com. At just $6.99 + shipping, their skins are priced very reasonably and they offer over 300 designs from which to choose. While their skins don’t offer full coverage, they are nice and get the job done. New Element Cases for iPhone to review!

The fabulous folks over at Element Case have sent me 2 of their Liquid Cases for the iPhone to review. These cases are unique in that they fit both the first-generation iPhone and the iPhone 3G and they can be customized to your heart’s content. One of the cases I received is customized for macgirl.net and the other is their 2009 Valentine’s Day special edition case – only 100 of these will be made and they’re priced at $119. 
Here are a few shots of them fresh out of the package, along with extra interchangeable flip lids. In these pics, my first-generation iPhone is in the Valentine’s Day special edition case and my iPhone 3G is in the macgirl.net custom case. I’m putting them through their paces in order to give them a thorough review, so stay tuned!


New review: Incase Protective Cover for 3G iPhone

Ah, another case reviewed for my 3G iPhone! This is the latest iteration of a case I also had for my first-generation iPhone, the Incase Protective Cover rubber/silicone case. This came to me as a gift (thanks Cathy!) and I love the color and access it allows me to my iPhone, though it’s not quite right for me to use daily. Read my review to find out why…
